Benefits of Yoga and meditation

Reducing anxiety

Participation in a two-month yoga class can lead to significant reduction in levels of anxiety in women who suffer from anxiety disorders. This study suggests that yoga can be considered as a complementary therapy or an alternative method for medical therapy in the treatment of anxiety disorders.

Reducing stress and associated diseases

Psychosocial stress is an important risk indicator for systemic diseases such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease and others. Yoga practice may help to improve systemic health, reduce depression and anxiety, and cause better wound healing, and might have therapeutic benefits in the severity of chronic inflammatory diseases” .Source:  US National Library of Medicine National Institutes of Health

Reducing depression

Subjects who participated in the yoga course demonstrated significant decrease in self-reported symptoms of depression and trait anxiety. Increasing alpha and theta waves

Erik Hoffman, Ph.D. and founder of the Mental Fitness & Research Center in Copenhagen, found that „healthy brain waves (alphawaves – relaxation – and thetawaves – unconscious memory, dreams, emotions) increased by 40 percent after a two-hour Kriya Yoga class.” Source: New Brain, New World
